On Episode 141, Dave recaps the week that was in the WWE and NXT for the week of October 17, 2016.
Raw continued to set the table for Hell In A Cell as Seth Rollins took on Chris Jericho in a rematch from the previous week. Y2J asked his best friend, the Universal Champion, Kevin Owens, to stay out of the match. Would KO oblige? Sasha Banks and Charlotte talked to Lita about their history making Hell In A Cell match for the Raw Women’s Championship. Meanwhile, Bayley took on Dana Brooke with both ladies trying to build some momentum. Big E tangled with Sheamus and, this week, it was Cesaro’s turn to have some fun at his partner’s expense. Braun Strowman continued to seek out competition. What unlikely individual stepped up to the plate? Rusev got the better of Roman Reigns as those two continue to increase the violence heading into their Hell In A Cell Match for the United States Championship. But, of course, the big news on Raw was the return of Goldberg. After 12 years, Goldberg stepped back into a WWE ring to answer Brock Lesnar’s challenge to a fight. What would Goldberg say to the Beast Incarnate? We let you know on Episode 141.
Over on Smackdown Live, Alexa Bliss took on Naomi trying to avenge her loss at No Mercy. Carmella and Nikki Bella continued their war of words. Baron Corbin looked to assert his dominance over Jack Swagger. The Intercontinental Champion, Dolph Ziggler, teamed up with the Smackdown Tag Team Champions, Heath Slater and Rhyno, to take on The Miz and The Spirit Squad. Who would prevail? Randy Orton took on Luke Harper as the mind games between The Viper and The Eater of Worlds, Bray Wyatt, continued. In the Main Event, James Ellsworth looked to pull off a miracle in his WWE World Championship match against AJ Styles. Dean Ambrose would get involved again but would it be enough to enable The Chinless Wonder to pull off the biggest upset ever? We let you know on Episode 141.
It is then on to NXT where the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic continued with two more 1st Round matches. No Way Jose teamed with Rich Swan to take on Drew Gulak and Tony Neese. In the second match, Austin Aries would introduce us all to his Tag Team partner. Who did The Greatest Man Who Ever Lived select as his partner and, more importantly, was it enough to advance in the tournament? Bobby Roode took on Sean Maluta and then had to fend off an assault from Tye Dillinger, his opponent for NXT Takeover: Toronto. Billie Kaye and Peyton Royce had a message for the entire Women’s Division, including the NXT Champion, Asuka. Speaking of the women, Sanity’s Nikki Cross showed us all why she may be the most dangerous person in the entire faction. Shinsuke Nakamura had a message for Samoa Joe as they too begin the build for their huge rematch in Toronto. What did the King of Strongstyle have to say to Samoa Joe?
