On Episode 122, we review all the action from last week’s installments of Raw and Smackdown Live as we get you all set for the go-home week for Summer Slam for both brands.
On Raw, there was no in-ring confrontation between Seth Rollins and Finn Balor as they gear up for their WWE Universal Championship match at Summer Slam. Both both men had plenty to say to each other…even if it amounted to plenty of nothing. Rusev and Lana had a wedding celebration complete with cake, champagne and…Roman Reigns as the best man? What could go wrong? Plenty, as the end result of this segment left us with a Roman Reigns vs Rusev match at Summer Slam for the United States Championship. Gallows & Anderson continued to target what is left of the New Day, who were trying to avoid coming down with a new case of Ringpostitis. Sasha Banks took on Dana Brooke with a chance to significantly even the odds for her WWE Women’s Championship match with Charlotte at Summer Slam. Meanwhile, Enzo and Big Cass got to meet their opponents for Summer Slam up close and personal, the newly formed team of Jeri-KO.
Smackdown Live came our way from Bakersfield, CA this past week and Dave and Ol’ Gator were in attendance to report on all the action for you. Dean Ambrose and Dolph Ziggler found themselves as unlikely partners in a match against Bray Wyatt and Eric Rowan. Could the WWE Champion and the #1 contender for that title co-exist? Smackdown Live also saw a couple of in-ring debuts as Alexa Bliss took on Becky Lynch and Carmella battled Natalaya. American Alpha served notice to the rest of the Smackdown Live Tag Team Division that the road to a soon to be created title may, in fact, go through them. Heath Slater continued to try and earn a roster spot and Alberto Del Rio took on The Viper, Randy Orton.
