On Episode 164, Dave is joined by Big Rick and Matt Rab of the 2 Man Band Podcast to review NXT Takeover: San Antonio and Royal Rumble 2017.

Dave begins by briefly discussing the Seth Rollins’ injury situation and developments as to the upcoming Elimination Chamber match.

It is then on to NXT Takeover: San Antonio, another excellent installment in NXT’s ongoing Takeover series of events. Could Tye Dillinger finally break through against SAniTY’s Eric Young? Which match might have stolen the show in San Antonio? Could DIY turn back the challenge of the seemingly unstoppable Authors of Pain and retain their NXT Tag Team Championships? Could Asuka hold on to her NXT Women’s Championship against not one, but three other opponents? And would Bobby Roode make San Antonio Glorious by toppling Shinsuke Nakamura and winning the NXT Championship? We have the details for you on Episode 164.

It is then on to the Royal Rumble, the event that puts everyone squarely on the Road to WrestleMania. We cover the Kickoff show matches first, including Gallows & Anderson trying, yet again, to win the Raw Tag Team Championships. As for the Main Card, did Bayley end Charlotte’s undefeated streak of winning singles matches on PPVs? Could Kevin Owens somehow find yet another way to deny Roman Reigns the Universal Championship? Did Neville truly become the King of the Cruiserweights? Did John Cena make history and tie Ric Flair by winning his 16th World Championship? Finally, who prevailed in the actual Royal Rumble match and punched his ticket to the Main Event of WrestleMania 33…and why were so many people so disappointed with this year’s match? We let you know on Episode 164.

Dave closes this Episode out with Part 3 of his Wrestle Kingdom 11 review. In this installment, we look at the NEVER Championship matches from the big Tokyo Dome event back on January 4 as The Bullet Club, Chaos and Los Ingobernobles met in a gauntlet Tag Team Match to then get a shot at the NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Champions, Richochet, David Finlay and Satoshi Kojima. Who left Tokyo with the gold? From there, we got one of the most physical matches you will ever see as Hirooki Goto tried to shake his label of always choking in the big matches as he met his old rival, Katsuyori Shibata, for the NEVER Openweight Championship. Could Goto finally break through? We have the details for you here on Episode 164.
