Episode 121 is a quick one simply designed to recap a couple of things from the past week or so of action. Dave recaps NXT from August 3, 2016, and the final four matches of the 1st Round of the Cruiserweight Classic here on this episode.
NXT was a bit light for this particular episode. Samoa Joe and Mojo Rawley got into a pretty good brawl while Asuka offered Bayley a ringside seat for her match against Aliyah. TM-61 took on the NXT Tag Team Champions, The Revival. What other team staked their own claim to the NXT Tag Titles. Bobby Roode made his first appearance in NXT with some unique theme music and an even better promo that was, dare we say, Glorious. But, perhaps most important, we got the long awaited in-ring return of Hideo Itami as he took on CWC competitor, Sean Maluta. How did Itami look in his return? We let you know on Episode 121.
We then review the final four matches of the 1st Round of the CWC. Rich Swann took on Jason Lee, Jack Gallagher went up against Fabian Aichner, and Noam Dar tangled with Gurv Shirra. As good as those matches were, and they were all excellent matches in their own right, the whole wrestling word was talking about the final 1st Round matchup of the CWC, a thrilling match between Tag Team partners, and friends, Johnny Gargano and Tomasso Ciampa.
